In September 2022 Astrid entered an award application to the Best Business Women Awards 2022. This awards was set up specifically to recognise women in business. For the first time the judges included a category for women in construction. The category was sponsored by Valentine King, who worked so hard to finally have a category recognising women in construction, and the manual trades in particular. The gender imbalance is still very high in this industry, with only 13% women in general, and around 4% women in the manual trades in particular.
The reason Astrid entered for the awards was to contribute to making women more visible in this industry. Being recognised and other women seeing women in this industry is so important for creating gender equality in construction.
The judges said, “Astrid is dedicated to her trade. It’s impressive that she is teaching other women who either want to do this as a hobby or go into trade themselves. A solid business that is growing with impressive achievements and reviews.”
