Digital Marketing and Publicity Assistant

Job Summary:

TouchWood South West is a female-led not-for-profit Carpentry and Joinery company and we share our love for traditional craft and practical skills with the community. We are looking for a Digital Marketing and Publicity Assistant to help us reach a wider audience. We take on bespoke carpentry and joinery commissions, run training courses in carpentry and DIY for women, deliver practical skills training in primary schools and work with women who are on probation or unemployed to empower them to re-enter education or employment. You will be working as part of our team of experienced trades-women, tutors and volunteers in this role.

Responsibilities and duties:

Your role will be

– to create, design and schedule social media content to promote our work and our courses

– to keep our website updated and create and upload content, including promoting and updating our online shop

– to create Mailchimp campaigns

– to create and update entries on our course booking page

– to create and upload content for our website “News” page

– to answer the phone when in the office

Training in the use of all the relevant software will be provided, including WordPress, Mailchimp, Later.com, Movavi, Bookwhen, Google Docs and Canva. Additionally there is the possibility for the right candidate to be trained in the use of Google Sketchup, a Computer Aided Drawing programme.

Qualifications and skills:

This position is open to a young person between 16 – 24 years who are on Universal Credit as part of the Government Kickstart Scheme.

We are looking for a team member with good communication skills, who is creative in their approach to problem solving, has a good sense of visual aesthetics and an interest in art and design. A very basic level of computer literacy is required, but most importantly we are looking for a keenness to learn and the ability to self-motivate.

A-level qualifications are beneficial, but not essential.

Working hours and arrangements:

25 hours a week.

3 days a week: 8 am – 4.30pm on a Monday (normally, with the odd exception) in the office at TQ13 8LN. The rest of the working hours are a mix of homeworking and office/workshop based attendance, depending on suitable travel arrangements

Details:

Start date February 2022 for 6 months

Pay: national minimum wage or minimum living wage depending on age.

Place of work: Mix of homeworking and workshop/ office attendance at 6 Ford Street, Moretonhampstead, TQ13 8LN 

In some circumstances we will consider the role to be solely working remotely.
